The Mexican businessman revealed that they managed to construct an overpass in the Moliere area, donating it to the city thanks to the opportunity provided by Alejandro Encinas when he was running for the Presidency. This initiative aimed to allow traffic to flow better in the area that had been divided by the creation of the Ejercito Nacional avenue.
Years after the construction, the area around Antara evolved significantly. Javier Sordo Madaleno, the architect in charge of the project, shared the experience of planning and building Antara Polanco, a project that expanded over time. According to the architect, he always envisioned Antara as the epicenter of development for a new active area.
The project had its obstacles, especially when they had to negotiate with then-Head of Government, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who opposed the construction of Antara. It was only after López Obrador left to seek the Presidency for the first time that authorization was granted to carry out the project. Sordo Madaleno mentioned that after presenting the idea to Alejandro Encinas, he accepted the construction of the shopping center and the overpass to improve mobility in the area.
In an interview, the architect shared his vision for the future of the project, highlighting that initially, the area where Antara was located was primarily industrial. He convinced investors of the importance of creating an attractive space where people could walk and enjoy, something he considered scarce in Mexico City.
In January 2021, the change of land use in Nuevo Polanco for Phase II of Antara was approved, which involved converting residences into a hotel. This expansion was carried out by connecting Antara with the Rosewood hotel chain, betting on maintaining the area's charm and promoting pedestrian mobility. Sordo Madaleno emphasized the importance of creating attractive and functional places that encourage people to visit and enjoy them.
